JustSpeak is a youth-led movement for transformative change in criminal justice towards a fair, just and compassionate Aotearoa.

We develop youth-led tools, resources, spaces and support to facilitate a public conversation on criminal justice informed by evidence and lived experience.

JustSpeak is excited to be developing a pilot series of workshops focused on reaching school age students in the Wellington region, to build their awareness of and passion for social change in the justice sector.  We’re looking for an awesome person who will support the Schools Outreach Coordinator to deliver workshops in schools as a co-presenter and facilitator.

You will ideally have prior experience as an educator, youth worker or group facilitator or comparative experience. Confidence, excellent communication skills and an ability to connect with young people are key aspects of this role. A passion for social justice issues and a commitment to honouring and upholding Te Tiriti O Waitangi are also required.

The timeframe for program delivery is early August until mid-November, and hours will be spread out across this period, meaning that flexibility and availability is important. Dates of workshops that you will be required to co-present will be given to you in advance.

Induction and training on the content of the workshops alongside facilitation training will be provided in late July in preparation for delivery.


‍The role‍

        ● Co-presenting and facilitating criminal justice workshops in secondary schools across Wellington alongside the Schools Outreach Coordinator  


Key experiences and skills could include‍

        ● Experience working as an educator or group facilitator (preferably ages 14-17) or comparative experience
        ● An passion for  justice, youth empowerment and social change
        ● Great people skills and ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
        ● Strong teamwork skills and familiarity with a collaborative workplace culture
        ● Professionalism, creativity and adaptability
        ● Familiarity with and knowledge of tikanga, kawa and te ao Māori either in a formal or informal capacity
        ● Familiarity with NCEA Learning standards in the social sciences, history and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
